I am a twenty-eight year-old animal lover. When I was presented with the opportunity to participate in this blogathon from one of my best friends I jumped at the chance, I love helping animals!
I have been an animal lover since childhood, particularly cats. It wasn't until I was in college that I started actively participating in animal rescue in a more hands-on manner. I have spent my time volunteering at "Save the Tigers," an old defunct tiger "sanctuary" in Colton, CA. The Fund for Animals oversaw the mission as we took care of the tigers on a daily basis until they were all moved to northern California to live their lives at PAWS (Performing Animal Welfare Society).
After my time spent with the tigers I did a brief stint with the organization "2nd Chance 4 Pets," as an online volunteer and helped do a lot of work for the "Campaign for Bella," a differently-abled dog that won all of our hearts and is doing well to this day.
Last year is when my work with animals really came to life and I have been more involved than ever before. I started volunteering with the Los Angeles branch of Best Friends Animal Society and it is one of the best decisions I have ever made in my entire life. I volunteer at all of their special events as well as certain pop-up events that occur from time to time. I also dedicate many hours to helping the Los Angeles dream team online by doing administrative work, all of which has truly opened my eyes to animal rescue...I have learned so much. I can never thank those that have given me a chance at BFLA to do more enough, because of them I have truly found where I am supposed to be and what I am supposed to do with my life, through them I have gotten there. I will always be grateful to Candi Crawford, Kaylee Hawkins, and Nick Carranza for putting their trust and faith in me and giving me the opportunity that they have.
I know that what I do is very minimal compared to what a lot of other people do, including those that I "work for" at BFLA, but I still feel like I am a part of something incredible and even the smallest task that I can complete for them means they have the time to find homes for the thousands of animals in need. While I am not a part of BFLA in any official capacity, I like to think I am where it matters most in the heart of it all and as long as I am helping animals in some way, I can easily do this for the rest of my life. Nothing has ever made me as happy as working with BFLA has made me.
