Best Friends Animal Society Sanctuary

Note: All pictures used are the property of Best Friends Animal Society and I am in no way trying to profit from the pictures or claim them as my own.

Best Friends Animal Sanctuary is nestled in the heart of Angel Canyon in southern Utah. The animals that come to Best Friends arrive from shelters and other groups around the nation that are in need of special training or care that they really cannot receive anywhere else. With Best Friends top notch veterinarians, trainers, and staff, they really do go on to lead happy and healthy lives! Many of these animals are adopted out but there are some who are too old or sick and these critters get to live out their lives at the sanctuary.

The sanctuary houses so many wonderful areas for different animals. The famous Dogtown which had it's own television show is home to many happy dogs who would love to give you some love and tail wags! There is also Cat World, Bunny House, Horse Haven, and even Piggy Paradise! Any animal lover will find the perfect companion animal for them here at Best Friends, and their expert staff can help you make the PURRfect pick.

While I personally have never visited the sanctuary, though it is a lifelong dream of mine to do so, one of my favorite parts of it is an area called Angel's Rest. Angel's Rest is a memorial cemetery and park where animals that have gone on to cross the Rainbow Bridge at the sanctuary have been laid to rest. Anyone can make a memorial tribute to be placed at Angel's Rest and not only do the donations from them go on to help other animals, but it is a gentle and sincere way to remember the animal that has passed on in your own life. It is a place that may seem difficult to visit, but at the same time it can offer much peace and comfort.

Anyone can sign up to volunteer at the sanctuary and help out with a variety of tasks, again, which is something I have wanted to do for as long as I can remember. To learn more about volunteering, and see some more beautiful photographs of the sanctuary and the canyons it is nestled in, be sure to check out their website at Best Friends at the Sanctuary.

  1. Wow, it's gorgeous! Wonder if they accept short-term volunteers...like one a week-long volunteering vacation sort of thing! How fun would that be???

  2. I believe the shortest length of time you can stay might be two weeks but I have heard conflicting reports on that, it is worth asking about! :)
